The wine has a fresh, lively bouquet, with all the characteristic vivacity of a fruit-driven Riesling. It is very fruity and floral, frank and expressive, and agreeably elegant on the palate, this is an ideal example of a pure, dry Riesling; clean, focused and true to the fresh and lively temperament of this grape. It finishes dry, fruity, fragrant yet refreshing, and easy to enjoy.

Pale lemon color with slight green hue. Well defined citrus aromas with strong minerality coming through. Crisp, juicy and very refreshing with a taut, focused palate that is packed with a medley of lively ruby grapefruit, tangerine, lime and peach flavors. Firm minerality follows through on the palate adding an appealing savory edge. Medium-bodied with a long mouthwatering finish.

Wine Advocate
Hugels’ basic (or, as they prefer to call it, “classic”) 2008 Riesling beautifully exhibits the success they have been able to score by letting their wines of that vintage undergo malo. (The total acidity is still plenty high!) Smoky and fusil notes mingle with fruit pit piquancy in the nose. Apricot, yellow plum and lime inform an exuberantly juicy, fresh, yet at the same time subtly creamily-textured amalgam, with hints of fruit skin tartness and salt lending invigoration to a lip-smacking finish. This puts me a bit in mind of the consistently delightful basic Riesling bottlings that used to characterize Hugel in the 1970s and 1980s (back when cool vintages were the) except that the fruit is more forward and the texture – indeed, the overall effect – more polished.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
