Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2009
|Region||California, North Coast, Mendocino|
We are always looking for Sauvignon Blanc flavors that are unique, true to the variety, pleasant and intriguing. Sauvignon Blanc grown in specific terroirs can sometimes display very strong 'Sauvignon' aromatics. These include boxwood or juniper, guava, fig, grapefruit and pineapple. We wanted to find fruit that added hints of all these, but a little more of the boxwood, gooseberries and light grassy character that is often associated with very cool climate, southern hemisphere Sauvignon Blancs. This Grand Reserve has all these aromatics including a distinctive note that asks to be evaluated over and over in the glass.
A nice, bright and savory Sauvignon Blanc, rich in fruit but dry on the finish. Shows waves of Meyer lemon, pineapple, kiwi, honeysuckle and vanilla flavors, accented with a touch of oak. Enjoyable on its own or with little appetizers.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Horse Heaven Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2009This Sauvignon Blanc from our Horse Heaven Vineyard delivers aromas of citrus and green apple with lively herb spice notes. We used partial stainless steel fermentation to preserve the Sauvignon Blanc's vibrant varietal character and fresh, crisp quality. For me, this wine represents the classic Washington style of Sauvignon Blanc with a crisp citrus character and a soft mouthfeel.
Rodney Strong Charlotte's Home Sauvignon Blanc 2009Light, crisp, and highly aromatic, the warmer climate Alexander Valley fruit gives the wine ripe pear and melon character, while the ocean cooled Russian River fruit offers citrus, mineral, and traditional herbaceous qualities. Together, the two valleys make a classic Sonoma County sauvignon blanc that is fresh, lively, and will drink beautifully over the next 1 to 2 years.
