Hugel Gentil 2009
Wine AdvocateThe mere 5% of Muscat in Hugel's 2009 Gentil seems to have been sufficient to engender its scents of sage, orange blossom, and apricot; with Gewurztraminer and an unusually high - roughly one-quarter - share of Pinot Gris lending breadth, softness, and smoked meat characteristics. This manages to refresh and to be relatively light on its feet despite nearly 13% alcohol, atypically high for this cuvee. Its success is a fine tribute to the skill with which the Hugels executed this blend. But I would drink it in 2011.
